Drafting & Design
Instructor: David Hoskins
Students will be exposed to a variety of areas
in the field of Drafting & Design. First year students
primarily study the technical and architectural drafting fields
with the use of the drafting board. Second year students take the
knowledge from the previous year and apply it to the computer-aided
drafting (CAD) programs. Some of the technical student projects
include a roller coaster project, race car design, tower and bridge
building. Students will study an object’s views and how to
communicate that information into drawings. In the architectural
drafting unit, students will design a house with a complete set of
construction prints. Understanding of construction techniques,
building codes, and house design are covered to assist the student
in their project. Advanced units that will be studied are landscape
design, interior design and commercial architecture.
