Computer Technology's Network Project
The fourth quarter network project
is well under way in both the a.m. and p.m. Computer Technology
classes. The class is installing a new inter-classroom network.
This installation includes the creation of a network server
computer, (Wally J. Scott, the computer on the wall, is the host
server for the project), and a wall mounted network rack that will
house the patch panel, router and network switch. These items have
already been installed (see the picture above for a current look at
the server and rack mount network gear).
From the server and network rack location, cables will be run to
several locations with in the Computer Technology classroom where
two data switches will be installed to balance the network traffic
load evenly. These data switches will provide network access to the
repair work benches in the room.
When the installation is complete, we will have a complete and
operational network that is internet capable and firewall secured.
We will have file sharing and print server capabilities as
well.
