Building Trades Project House Progress

by Marv Carlton, Building Trades Instructor

At this time, we are almost to the point of being 100% drywalled inside the house. On Monday, February 25, we started hanging drywall in the garage after we insulated the ceiling. We will hang the ceiling and then the walls. In the meantime, a subcontractor will come in and do the mudding and taping (a process that takes years of practice to master).  While they are doing that, and by the time we are done in the garage, hopefully the weather will be breaking with more moderate temperatures and no more snow.

In about a week, we will be moving outside (as I am sure the students are even more anxious about that than I am), starting on the soffit and fascia in preparation for the siding. We will also be ordering the interior trim and cabinets to have something to go into on rainy days.
