Graphics Goes to College

by Edwin and Katie

We started off in January with a field trip to Robert Morris College, visiting the DuPage campus in Aurora. We participated in an animation class in the Apple Mac lab and learned how to animate a fish named “Finnie.” When we were done, Finnie was able to flip and swim through moving waves like a real fish!

Next we had a tour of the building and saw the classrooms, fitness center, computer labs and the student commons area. Lunch was provided after the tour. Before we left, we divided into teams and had a scavenger hunt to answer questions about Robert Morris College.

The first place team won backpacks with the Robert Morris logo, and the second place team received mini Rubric’s cubes as a prize. Our last stop was at the mall where we looked at retail displays and completed a “compare and contrast” project about how stores use the elements and principles of design in merchandising. Before we knew it, we were back at Indian Valley Vocational Center.
