Guest Speaker in the Building Trades & Remodeling Classes
The
Building Trades and Building Trades Remodeling classes were treated
to a great guest speaker earlier this month. Jim Smith, Building
Inspector for the City of Sandwich, spent an hour with each class
outlining his experiences and duties as a building
inspector.
Before working for Sandwich, Mr. Smith had spent ten years with the Kendall County Building and Zoning Department. Mr. Smith brought with him several forms and documents that municipalities use in the inspection and permit process. He also explained how he examines a set of blueprints, before issuing the actual building permit. The Trades Classes at IVVC would like to thank Mr. Smith for taking time out of his busy schedule to explain the job of building inspector to the students.
