Check Out Everything that is Happening in Health Occupations I

Students have started their job shadowing experience this month. They have chosen to job shadow many different areas in health care. The facilities range from hospitals, a veterinary hospital, physical therapist, nursing homes, dentist and doctors offices. They will gain experience in looking at the skills each of these professionals use, and see how they interact with each client.
In the classroom, the heart and lungs have been examined, new medical terms have been made and everyone should be able to tell you how the blood flows through the heart.

The a.m. class worked on a display window in the hallway of the school. Stop by and see if you can learn something new about the heart.

The p.m. class visited Prairie View School in Sandwich to teach the second grade classes about proper techniques of washing their hands.

As First Responder students, they have continued to build on the skills they have been mastering throughout the school year. A few of these skills include:  CPR, back-boarding, putting a C-collar on, giving oxygen to someone, taking a blood sugar, and looking for signs and symptoms of various emergencies. Emergencies they have learned about so far include diabetic, chest pain, stroke and heart attack.
