What's Happening in Auto Mechanics
by Nick Little
Hi Everybody!
Thanks for spending some time with us here at
indianvalley.org and especially with Auto
Mechanics.
I’d like to start off by saying thank you to all of the parents who
came out to visit us at the Open House on Wednesday, September 26.
We are always glad to speak with parents who want to get involved
and see what their students are doing at IVVC. We were surprised by
the turnout and appreciate all of your kind remarks.
Next, I’d like to bring everybody up to date on where we are in our
school year. We’ve made it through the orientation and safety
portion of our curriculum; we have covered oil changes and tires,
now we are beginning to cover brakes. This week, we will be
explaining basic hydraulic principles and theory of brakes. After
we cover the basics, we will talk about the different types of
brake systems and their operation.
During this time, Bob and the second year students will cover the
basics of piston engine operation and diagnosis/repair, as well as
engine lubrication and cooling systems. While we are on the
subject, I would like to invite anyone who needs work done on their
vehicle to send a e-mail to myself (nlittleivvc@yahoo.com)
or Bob (junktoybob@aol.com). We can
determine if it is a job that would apply to our course of study.
We rely heavily on our shop time to help the students apply what
they’ve learned in the classroom, so we appreciate any offers we
have to work on “live cars” to do that. To recap, we are looking
for customer cars in order to perform oil changes, tire rotations,
brake inspections and brake repair. Thank you for your
consideration.
And finally, one last order of business, we would like to
congratulate Josh Hanson on his achievement as “Student of the
Month” for September. Good job, Josh – keep up the good
work!
