Law Enforcement's Field Trip on September 13, 2007
Eating MREs, shooting a M-16, riding in a
hummer, and taking apart a machine gun were par for the course
today as Law Enforcement spent a day with the National Guard in
Marseilles. Students used the $500,000 shooting simulator that
military and police use daily. We were able to raid islands,
ambush enemies, and practice our shooting. Outside, we hopped into
hummers and an APV and took a tour of the base. At lunch time,
students ate MRE’s or Meals Ready to
Eat. Jambalaya, chicken and rice, meatloaf, and
spaghetti were just a few of the selections. The MREs have a
shelf life of 10 years and pack over 3000 calories. Hopefully
we ate ones that were only a few years old.
