SkillsUSA Membership Drive in Progress Now
Second year SkillsUSA members have been giving
presentations to career programs in the past week to inform IVVC
students of the benefits of joining SkillsUSA. Students who
participate in Skills receive the following “perks”:
- A subscription to Skills USA Champions, the official Skills magazine
- Access to career resources and contact with industry
- Opportunities to compete in the
SkillsUSA Championships at the
local, state, or national levels - Opportunities for scholarships, awards, and honors
- Job contacts and networking opportunities
- A chance to learn and practice professional and leadership skills
- Recognition from peers, teachers, and
leaders within the
community
SkillsUSA membership dues are $16.00 of which $8.00 goes to the state and $8.00 goes to the national level. The first semester membership drive will end on October 18. There will be a second semester drive after the holidays. The IVVC SkillsUSA had 46 members last year and is hoping to increase its membership significantly in the 2007-2008 school year.
